THERAPUTIC INTERVENTION PROGRAM -TIP
The Therapeutic Intervention Program (TIP) supports students facing significant emotional challenges. Based on recommendations from their IEP teams, these students require an intensive therapeutic environment to maximize their educational experience. TIP emphasizes positive interventions to help students develop and maintain appropriate emotional and social behaviors. Each student receives ongoing therapeutic support, including individual and group therapy, tailored to their emotional needs. The program staff comprises an Educational Specialist, a Mental Health Specialist, and instructional paraprofessionals. Students engage in academic work aligned with their grade level and IEP goals, utilizing both general and modified curriculum materials. They also participate in general education activities, supported by IEP accommodations.
Student Placement
Students are placed in the Therapeutic Intervention Program through the IEP team process. The Director of Special Education will work site based IEP teams to place the students into the TIP program.
ADULT TRANSITION PROGRAM -ATP
The Adult Transition Program (ATP) is an individually-designed program, for students ages 18-22, who have not received a high school diploma, and focuses on independent employment through a curriculum designed to help students develop interpersonal skills, access community resources, and receive work related training and other skills needed to live in the community.
The curriculum will focus on acquisition of functional academics, vocational, recreation and leisure, community participation, domestic and self-help, social and behavioral, communication and mobility skills. Activities will take place within community settings using neighborhood resources and will be based on individual need and readiness. Transition services will vary based on individuals, goals and their person centered plan. Activities are designed for students with high adaptive skills and the potential of functioning independently in the community.
Student Placement
Through the IEP team process students ages 18-22 that were placed in the Vocational Certificate Program and the Functional Life Skills Program are eligible for the Adult Transition Program. The Director of Special Education will work with each school site to place the students into ATP.
