What is AVID
Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID) is offered as an elective course that meets regularly for 1 period each day. Each week, students
receive two periods of instruction, two periods of tutor led study groups, and 1 period of motivational
activities and academic skill development (e.g., critical reading and writing skills). AVID students are
encouraged to take honors/Advanced Placement courses through their four years of high school.
